Poznan Airport Hotels

Poznan-Lawica Airport sits close to the western edge of the city, and most travellers sleep in the centre rather than beside the terminal. This guide lays out the hotel options by neighbourhood, the airport buses that connect them, and how to decide.

Short answer

Poznan has no hotel attached to the terminal itself; the practical play is a hotel in the centre or MTP fair area, reached by airport buses 148 and 159, which run every 7 to 8 minutes at peak between the airport and Poznan Glowny station.

Poznan, the capital of the Wielkopolskie voivodeship (Greater Poland) in western Poland, on the Warta river, is a city where the airport question answers itself faster than in most European destinations. Poznan-Lawica Airport sits on the western side of a city of 534,239 residents, and it is small enough, and close enough to the centre, that almost nobody needs to sleep beside the runway. The real decision is not "airport hotel or not" but which neighbourhood to sleep in, and how to get between that neighbourhood and the terminal on the day you fly.

This guide, from the Poznan Travel Guide editorial desk, works through that decision. Nobody on this desk has been to Poznan; every figure below comes from an official source, ZTM's own pages, the airport's announcements or the WMO climate normals for the Poznan station, and where no official figure exists, this page stays silent rather than guessing.

Is There A Hotel At Poznan Airport Itself?

That last clause matters, because many airport-hotel guides print a transfer time. The airport bus journey time is unsourced in every official page this desk can verify, so this guide prints no minutes. What ZTM's own route notice does confirm is frequency: lines 148 and 159 link Poznan Glowny railway station with the airport, each running every 15 minutes at peak and every 20 minutes off-peak and at weekends, which combines to a departure every 7 to 8 minutes at peak and about every 10 minutes off-peak. Changes in force since 18 April 2026 extended line 148 to the station forecourt.

Why Most Visitors Sleep In The Centre, Not At The Airport?

Because the airport sits on the city's western edge and the buses to Poznan Glowny run so frequently, a centre hotel puts the Old Market Square, the museums and the train station all within one short bus ride of the terminal, which is why the standard advice for Poznan is to book the centre and skip the airport entirely.

The centre grouping in this site's accommodation roster covers the streets around the station and the MTP fair grounds: hotels such as ibis Poznan Centrum, the Poznan and the Sheraton Poznan all sit in that zone, which is also the zone that serves the MTP fair calendar. If your trip is built around a fair, the centre-and-MTP grouping is the one to look at first, and the Poznan International Fair visitor guide explains how the fair grounds sit relative to the station.

Two practical notes frame any centre stay. First, ZTM's tickets are timed, not zoned: a 15-minute ticket costs 5 zl, 45 minutes 7 zl, 90 minutes 9 zl, and a 24-hour zone A ticket 18 zl, all zones 24 zl, per ZTM's price list. Second, there is no contactless bank-card payment on trams and buses yet: the PEKA modernisation contract that will bring it is signed, with effects expected in 2028, so today it is timed tickets, apps, ticket machines or a PEKA card. The Poznan public transport guide covers the full ticket system.

Which Neighbourhood Should You Book For An Early Flight?

For an early flight the centre grouping wins on frequency alone: buses 148 and 159 together give a departure every 7 to 8 minutes at peak from Poznan Glowny, and the station forecourt is where line 148 now starts, so a hotel near the station or the MTP grounds gives the shortest and simplest airport run of any Poznan neighbourhood.

Want the door-to-door ride sorted before you land? Book an airport transfer here.

The airport's own announcements add one wrinkle worth knowing: from 25 October 2026 the airport introduces a "core night" with no scheduled operations between 1:00 and 5:00. That means no very-late or very-early scheduled departures in that window, which softens the usual argument for an airport hotel in most cities. An early flight here means a morning flight, not a 3 a.m. one, and a centre hotel with a short bus ride covers it.

The neighbourhoods in play, in the roster's own groupings:

Neighbourhood grouping Character Airport access Best for
Old Town (Stary Rynek) The historic square, restaurants, the goats' Town Hall Bus to Poznan Glowny, then 148/159 First-time visitors, short stays
Centre and MTP Station, fair grounds, business hotels Direct: 148 starts at the station forecourt Fair visitors, early flights, train connections
Malta and Srodka Lake Malta, the cathedral island side of the river Bus or tram to the centre first Families, longer stays, zoo and lake days

For the full neighbourhood-by-neighbourhood breakdown, see where to stay in Poznan, and for the Old Town specifically, Poznan Old Town hotels.

Old Town Hotels: Worth The Airport Bus Ride?

Yes for most leisure trips: the Old Town grouping puts you walking distance from the Stary Rynek, the Croissant Museum's English show at 14:00 and the Fara's daily 6:00 to 19:30 opening, and the airport bus connection runs through Poznan Glowny with a departure every 7 to 8 minutes at peak, so the trade is one easy transfer for being in the middle of everything.

The Old Town roster includes Hotel Kolegiacki, PURO Poznan and Opera Hostel, a spread that covers the full budget range from a design hotel to a hostel. No nightly rate appears on this page because none is verified in this desk's sources: rates move daily and belong on the booking page, not in a guide.

The Museum of Musical Instruments sits at Stary Rynek 45, open Tue-Wed 10:00-16:00, Thu 10:00-18:00, Fri 10:00-20:00, Sat-Sun 10:00-17:00, normal 15 zl, reduced 10 zl, Tuesday free, per the National Museum's visit page. The Greater Poland Military Museum at Stary Rynek 9 is Tue-Sun 10:00-17:00, 15 zl normal, 10 zl reduced, Tuesday free. The Croissant Museum runs its English "Croissant and goat show" at 14:00, daily in July and August and weekends all year, with a 15:30 English show launched when the 14:00 show is full.

One honest caveat for the Old Town right now: the Town Hall museum interior is closed for renovation, with every weekday listed as closed on the museum's own visit page and no published reopening date. The facade, the square and the noon and 3 pm goats are separate from that closure, though whether the goats run during the facade works is not officially stated, so this guide promises nothing.

Centre And MTP Hotels: The Fair-Visitor Default?

For anyone flying in for a fair at MTP, the centre-and-MTP grouping is the default: these hotels sit closest to Poznan Glowny, where line 148 now starts at the station forecourt, and the fair grounds themselves are part of this same central zone, so the airport-to-hotel-to-fair journey is the shortest in the city.

The grouping's roster, ibis Poznan Centrum, the Poznan and the Sheraton Poznan, is the business end of the market. Fair dates matter more than anything else here: Poznan Game Arena runs 23 to 25 October 2026 and Cavaliada 10 to 13 December 2026, per the MTP calendar as reported, and those weeks compress the central hotel inventory. If your trip is fair-driven, book against the calendar, not against the airport.

The station is also the city's rail hub. Direct trains from Poznan Glowny reach Warsaw in about 2 h 20 to 3 h 20, Berlin about 4 h 30 to 5 h 30, Wroclaw about 2 h 20 to 3 h 30 and Gdansk about 3 h 40 to 5 h, all Grok-reported ranges from the PKP Intercity timetables, never minute-exact, and the Warsaw to Poznan train guide and Berlin to Poznan train guide cover each route in detail. One entry rule for the Berlin direction: Poland has temporary internal border controls at its land borders with Germany and Lithuania from 2 October 2026 to 30 March 2027, so carry a passport or national ID on that train.

Malta And Srodka Hotels: A Quieter Airport-Adjacent Base?

The Malta-and-Srodka grouping is the city's quiet base: it puts you beside Lake Malta, the New Zoo and the cathedral island of Ostrow Tumski, and while it needs a bus or tram into the centre before the airport leg, it suits families and anyone staying three nights or more who would rather trade a transfer for green space.

The roster here includes HP Park Poznan, the Srodka apartment and the apartment over Lake Malta, a grouping that leans to apartments and parkside hotels rather than business blocks.

What the area offers: the New Zoo at ul. Krancowa 81 opens daily, 9:00-19:00 from April to September, with tickets at 45 zl normal and 30 zl reduced on weekdays March to October, 55 zl and 35 zl on Saturdays and holidays, and 20 zl for everyone November to February, per the zoo's own price page. The Old Zoo on ul. Zwierzyniecka 19 is free to enter and opens daily. Termy Maltanskie, the aquapark on the lake shore described by its operator as using natural geothermal water, runs its aquapark daily 9:00-23:00, with a normal daily-rate ticket at 46 zl for one hour up to 109 zl for the whole day, per the operator's price list.

Two seasonal cautions for this area, both from official pages. The Maltanka park railway, which runs between the Maltanka and Zwierzyniec stations near the New Zoo, ended its 2026 season on Sunday 27 September 2026, and no 2027 start date is published, so do not plan a winter stay around it. And the cathedral's crypts and viewing tower on Ostrow Tumski are open to tourists only from 1 March to 15 November, weekdays 9:00-16:00, Sundays 14:00-18:00, with crypts at 10 zl normal and 8 zl reduced and the tower at 14 zl and 12 zl, per the cathedral's own page for visitors.

How Do You Get From An Airport Hotel To The Terminal At 5 AM?

You do not, in most cases, need to: the airport's own "core night" announcement means no scheduled operations between 1:00 and 5:00 from 25 October 2026, so flights do not leave in that window, and the earliest realistic departure is a morning one, covered by a centre hotel plus bus 148 or 159 from Poznan Glowny, where peak frequency is a departure every 7 to 8 minutes.

That said, a 5 a.m. question usually means a 6 or 7 a.m. flight, and for that the honest answer is that ZTM's own pages do not publish when the first airport buses of the day start running, so this guide cannot tell you the first-departure time. Check the ZTM timetable for your date, or, if the hour is tight, book a private transfer instead: the featured product on this page is a private airport transfer in an E-Class or similar car, and its price and availability render on the operator's live listing, not in this prose. Check availability.

For the taxi question, this desk will not print a fare: no official source carries a Poznan airport taxi price, and the taxi fare question page on this site answers it honestly from what is and is not verifiable. Ride-hailing availability in the city is covered separately on can you use Uber in Poznan.

What Does A One-Night Poznan Airport Stopover Look Like?

A one-night stopover works best as a centre hotel with a late-evening arrival and a morning departure: land at Lawica, ride bus 148 or 159 to Poznan Glowny, sleep near the station, and spend the evening at the Old Market Square, which is one short walk or tram ride away, before flying out the next morning.

The evening piece is the argument for the centre over the airport: the Stary Rynek after dark, the Fara open daily until 19:30, and the restaurants of the Old Town are all reachable from a station-side hotel. The one day in Poznan itinerary is built for exactly this case, and the Poznan self-guided walking tour turns a spare afternoon into a route.

A winter stopover adds one strong draw: Betlejem Poznanskie, the Christmas market, runs 14 November 2026 to 6 January 2027, with the MTP grounds from 14 November to 20 December, Plac Wolnosci from 20 November and the Stary Rynek from 21 November, both to 6 January, per the market's official page. The Poznan Christmas market guide covers it fully.

Season Mean daily high / low (C) Precipitation (mm) Frost days Stopover note
January 2.1 / -2.9 37.7 19.7 Christmas market tail end to 6 Jan
April 15.0 / 4.0 28.6 4.6 Driest month of the year
July 25.2 / 14.1 84.4 0.0 Warmest but also wettest month
October 13.3 / 5.4 35.4 3.8 Fair season, Game Arena 23-25 Oct 2026

The climate rows come from the WMO 1991-2020 climate normals for the Poznan station (WMO 12330), which also show July is both the warmest and the wettest month at 84.4 mm and April the driest at 28.6 mm. The Poznan weather by month guide and the best time to visit Poznan take those normals month by month.

Should You Book A Hotel Or An Apartment For A Fair Week?

For a fair week, book a hotel in the centre-and-MTP grouping early: the fair calendar concentrates demand in the station-and-grounds zone, the airport buses run through that same zone, and the alternative, an apartment further out, trades a walk to the fair for a bus or tram commute each morning, which matters when fair days start early.

The fair calendar this desk can verify runs: Poznan Game Arena 23 to 25 October 2026 and Cavaliada 10 to 13 December 2026, both at MTP, with 2027 fair dates unpublished. Around those dates, central hotel inventory tightens first, then the Old Town, then everything else. The Poznan International Fair visitor guide is the companion page for the fair side of a trip.

For a longer, non-fair stay, the apartment logic flips: three nights or more in the Malta-and-Srodka or Jezyce groupings buys space and a kitchen at the cost of the commute, and the three days in Poznan itinerary shows what that extra time buys, including the day trips to Gniezno and Kornik Castle that a one-night stopover cannot fit.

What Should You Know Before Booking Any Poznan Hotel?

Five things shape every Poznan hotel stay: the currency is the zloty (PLN), not the euro; the airport buses are 148 and 159, not a dedicated airport express; there is no contactless bank-card payment on trams and buses yet, with effects expected in 2028; the Town Hall museum interior and the Palm House are both closed right now; and the Christmas market runs 14 November 2026 to 6 January 2027, which moves winter availability in the centre.

Each of those five is a verified fact, and each one changes a booking decision. The currency point alone catches visitors out: Poland is in the EU and Schengen but not the euro area, and rates move daily, so no fixed exchange rate belongs in a guide. The closures point protects a winter booking from disappointment: the Palm House in Park Wilsona is closed to visitors for rebuilding, with part of the rebuilt pavilions due back towards the end of 2028 and works until 2030, per the city's own notice, and the Town Hall museum interior is closed with no published reopening date.

The transport point is the one that affects the airport-hotel question most directly. ZTM's tickets are timed: 15 minutes for 5 zl, 45 for 7 zl, 90 for 9 zl, and the 24-hour zone A ticket at 18 zl, all-zones 24 zl. The fine for travelling without a valid ticket is 350 zl, or 175 zl if paid within 7 days. A PEKA bearer card costs 27 zl, of which 12 zl is a refundable deposit and 15 zl is travel credit, per ZTM's own page on the card.

Practical item Figure Source basis
15-minute tram/bus ticket 5 zl (reduced 2.50) ZTM price list
24-hour zone A ticket 18 zl (reduced 9) ZTM price list
Fine for no valid ticket 350 zl, or 175 zl within 7 days ZTM additional fees page
PEKA bearer card 27 zl (12 deposit + 15 credit) ZTM PEKA page
Poznan City Card, 24 h with transport 65 zl Visit Poznan card page

The Poznan City Card row deserves its own word: the card gives free admission to most of Poznan's museums and free public transport in the transport version, but partners such as the Enigma Cipher Centre (21 zl with the card against 35 zl normal) and Porta Posnania (21 zl against 35 zl) are discounted, not free, per both attractions' own pages. The Poznan City Card guide works through whether the card pays off for a hotel-based stay. Common Questions About Poznan Airport Hotels

Is There A Hotel Inside Poznan Airport?

No hotel sits attached to the Poznan-Lawica Airport terminal, and no official source this desk can verify lists a terminal-adjacent hotel. The standard plan is a hotel in the centre, reached by airport buses 148 and 159 from Poznan Glowny, which run every 7 to 8 minutes at peak.

How Do I Get From Poznan Airport To My Hotel?

ZTM bus lines 148 and 159 run between the airport and Poznan Glowny railway station, each every 15 minutes at peak and every 20 minutes off-peak and at weekends, so a departure every 7 to 8 minutes at peak. Standard ZTM timed tickets apply: 5 zl for 15 minutes, 7 zl for 45, 9 zl for 90. A private transfer in an E-Class or similar car is the alternative, with price and availability on the operator's live listing.

Should I Stay Near The Airport Or In The City Centre?

The centre, for almost every trip. The airport's "core night" from 25 October 2026 means no scheduled operations between 1:00 and 5:00, so there is no middle-of-the-night departure to plan around, and the bus frequency from Poznan Glowny makes the transfer simple. Fair visitors should look at the centre-and-MTP grouping first.

Can I Pay By Bank Card On Poznan Trams And Buses?

Not yet. Contactless bank-card and phone payment on the stop-based tariff is expected in 2028 under the signed PEKA modernisation contract. Today you buy a timed ticket, use a ticketing app or machine, or carry a PEKA card, which costs 27 zl including a 12 zl refundable deposit.

What Is The Best Area To Stay In Poznan For An Early Flight?

The centre-and-MTP grouping, around Poznan Glowny station and the fair grounds, gives the shortest airport run: line 148 starts at the station forecourt and the combined 148/159 frequency is a departure every 7 to 8 minutes at peak. The Old Town grouping is one short tram or bus ride further.

Do Poznan Hotels Charge In Euros?

No. Poland's currency is the zloty (PLN), and Poland is not in the euro area. Hotel rates, taxi meters, museum tickets and market stalls all price in zloty, and exchange rates move daily, so no fixed conversion belongs in a guide.

The short version: book the centre or MTP grouping for a fair week or an early flight, the Old Town for a first visit, and Malta or Srodka for a longer, quieter stay, then ride 148 or 159 between Poznan Glowny and the terminal and let the frequency do the work.
